Dendrobium Burana Jade

22/11/2013

Dendrobium Burana Jade is an epiphytic growing Thai orchid hybrid, a crossing between Dendrobium Bangkok Green (seed parent) and Dendrobium Burana Fancy (pollen parent). Dendrobium Burana Jade has been developed and registered with the Royal Horticultural Society by P.Buranaraktham in the year 1996. Plants grow up to heights of 1 meter, inflorescences, packed with 15-20 jade-green flowers per spike., get lengths up to about 40 cm. Mature plants may sprout up to 8 spikes, a quite spectacular display.

The remarkable, jade-green flowers with their purple lip get a size of about 5 cm in diameter. The Dendrobium hybrid is known as an easy-to-care orchid, flowers are long-lasting and with good conditions plants may bloom nearly all around the year. In Thailand Dendrobium Burana Jade orchids are often industrially cultivated for the production of cut-flowers.
