Luisia macrotis Rchb.f. 1869 is an epiphytic growing orchid species native to the Himalayas, India (Assam), Myanmar (formerly Burma), China (Yunnan), Laos, Thailand and Vietnam. Luisia macrotis flowers get a size of about 1,5 cm. Flowering period: April. Luisia macrotis orchids are protected by CITES Appendix II (trade controlled to avoid use incompatible with species survival). The tropical orchid requires intermediate to warm temperatures, moderate sunlight and a well-drained potting medium. Plants are best cultivated in hanging baskets or mounted at a piece of wood or a tree.
