Phalaenopsis cornu-cervi (Hasselt ex Hassk.) Blume & Rchb. f. 1860 is an epiphytic, occassionally lithophytic growing orchid species, native to India, Myanmar (formerly Burma), Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines. Inflorescences of the small sized orchid can reach lengths up to 40 cm and carry up to a dozen fleshy flowers. The fragrant and long-lasting flowers get a size of 3 - 5 cm across. Flowering period: with good conditions all around the year, with a peak from spring to fall. Phalaenopsis cornu-cervi orchids are protected by CITES Appendix II (trade controlled to avoid use incompatible with species survival). The beautiful Phalaenopsis orchid requires intermediate to warm temperatures, low light or full shade, a well-drained potting medium, if not mounted
and a high humidity.


Plants should be kept moist, but not sogging wet, during the growth season. During the winter rest waterings should be slightly decreased. IMPORTANT: Do not cut away still green inflorescences, before completely dried out, as they may set new flowers again for several times.
