Spathoglottis Citrus Cooler Sorbet
13/06/2013
Spathoglottis Citrus Cooler Sorbet is a terrestrial growing, primary orchid hybrid, a crossing between Spathoglottis kimballiana and Spathoglottis plicata.
The Spathoglottis Sorbet™ and the Passion™ series, which include a few spectacular and colorful ground orchid hybrids, are registered trademarks of Foremost® Orchids, an orchid nursery, founded in 1987 in Miami, Florida. Spathoglottis Citrus Cooler Sorbet™ hasn`t been registered with the Royal Horticultural Society, but an orchid hybrid with the same parentage (kimballiana x plicata) has been registered in 1997 under the name Spathoglottis Freckle Face. Finally there are a few Spathoglottis kimballiana x plicata hybrids, which all look quite different, depending to the proportion of the parents. In addition, especially from Spathoglottis plicata orchids are several color variants around.
Flowers of Spathoglottis Citrus Cooler Sorbet™ get a size of about 7-8 cm in diameter and open successively. Flowering period: Spring – Summer. The tropical ground orchid hybrid requires warm – hot temperatures and a location in full sun – partial shade. During the growth season roots should be kept moist, but not wet, whilst waterings should be restricted during the winter rest.
